A while after purchasing an 05 MP3 OEM radio with the intentions of putting it in my 02, I am still running my original radio. I thought I had an adapter lined up, but I was wrong :(

No one seems to make an adapter to simply plug my whatever bus radio setup into the can bus oriented plug on the new radio. I can't even find parts for plan b, of using plugs compatible with each system, with wiring only on one end, and splicing the wires together accordingly. This is seemingly harder than installing an aftermarket radio...I guess no one wanted to do what I'm trying?

Does anyone know of anything to help me out, because hunting around really sucks ;(

I wanted to get a AVIC D3 until that I found out that I had a Pioneer Edition Trac, but at one time had thought of geting a 6 disc changer stereo from ebay that said included an adapter to go from 05 to 02. Have you checked Ebay to see if just the adapter could be found on ebay

So if I got a "radio wire harness kit" for the 05, that would plug into the radio and give me bare wires....so what do I use to plug into my 02 wires to give me another end of bare wires.

Now that I've switched cds and started using Disc Shuffle, I'm living with the stock 6 disc, but only 8 hours maximum of music is very limiting....and burning cds is a pain, as the stock player doesn't like to play with CDRW :(

(so I have to dig up cdrs, and my stupid laptop wasted most of my stash on coasters....I went for dvdrs instead...seemed like a good idea lol)

What would you call a plug which connects to the Ford 02 radio wires in the dash, and ends with bare wires, because I don't know what to search for.

Also, are the wires the same for an 02 explorer sport and the st? I'm assuming yes, but what about the normal explorer?
