Ive been searching all over and couldnt find the help i needed so i came here with a chevy problem and i bet some of you can help. I have a buddy that got a new Chevy Aveo and got some subs and an amp but wants to keep his factory head unit. He asked me to install it for him. I told him to get a Line output converter so he got one from walmart. a schoshe product. so i hooked up his power and ground and wired the remote amp turn on to a switch so he can switch of the subs if he doesnt want to hear them. Then i used wire taps to connect to the back speakers in his car and wired them into the line converter on the input side. Then i took RCA's on the output side of the converter and went to the amp with them. However, I can get no sound out of the speakers and I can not figure out where i went wrong with the wiring. any ideas?

Converter should go right behind the radio. Once correctly placed, try adjusting it. If nothing still, bad converter or amp.

I had bad luck w/ those. Had 2 of them go bad in a week period, before getting fed up and just buying an aftermarket stereo.

Check to see if the Amp is working. Unplug one of the RCA cords and tap your finger on the end of it while the Amp is turned on. If you hear a buzz, the amp is working. If not, check to be sure the Amp kick on lead is powered up.

Also, Remember that not all line converters are the same.. With most systems, you will have a "floating ground" on the speaker output leads, which means you cannot actually ground one of the speaker wires. (Some line converters may ground one of the wires, so be sure what you have is ground isolated)
