Well, I think im gunna start to work on my audio system in my ST. I'd like to get 2 sealed 12" IDMAX's in there... and as we all know there isnt much space, AT ALL in the ST without doing some kinda mods. So what im thinking I might do is use under the rear seat and between the front and rear seat for the enclosure. Im sure the space between the seats will give me the 1.3cuft per sub I need. Subs firing forward.

I have 2 small kids and when we go in the truck, thier feet dont go below the rear seat level when sitting in their car seats. This is my only real concern is that we can all fit in there.

I'd just like to know if anyone had a good estimate on the airspace that will be available?

Are the STA's rear seats like the gen 1 where you can unbolt the bottoms and move the seat bottom up and out of the way?

I'm running it through my head like it was a gen 1, which best guess could give about 3 cubic feet with the seats sitting on top of the box.

Yeah they are.

Yeah, I measured and its about 3cuft. Thats with space to fire them downward. Now that I see that there is that much room im thinkin a single ported driver again, but I am more interested in SQ, so I might stay sealed. Time will tell! :)

The SQ is relative to the system and the type of music. Sealed is probably the best SQ overall but if you like to listen to a lot or rap...ported is almost a must have.

Trying to force two 12s in there is probably not the way to go imo.

I'd drop to a pair of Kicker 10" shallow mount subs and do a custom sealed enclosure and custom amp rack behind the rear seats. If you don't need to fold your rear seats down than you can gain the cubic airspace under the seats also or add another 10" Kicker under the seat.

It's not always the best bass using the biggest subs. It's more about how it's tuned and how much airspace you've got.

I wish I could finish my system. I put it on hold when sales dropped off here at the dealership.

Sealed is always the best for SQ, but I do like the sound of ported boxes (all my past boxes except a few at the very beginning were ported)

Im more into Alternative and Metal, I do like some rap, but probably 20% of the time.

There is 3cuft, I have lots of room for 2 12's or 3 10's... Just trying to decide which way to go. Its not a tough fit at all, using this method actually gives you lots of room, even with the seats all the way back...

This will be the toughest box i've made though, lots of angles to make it look sweet.
