I'm buying a factory subwoofer & amp From Korey for my 09 ST and it looks like I need the head unit as well to get the sub woofer connector / jack. Korey has one of these to, so I would but both.

What about the security codes?

Has anybody here done this already? Any other pointers?

Thanks,

Jeff

I know you were probably looking for a 2nd opinion (other than mine), but I did some more reading on this. Check the "Securilock" section in your Owners Manual (Page 163 in my 08 manual). The secuirty is built into the key, and ignition system. The OEM radio does not retain any of this functionality (otherwise we'd have a more difficult time going aftermarket). It states that Securilock is not compatible with non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems, but doesn't say anything about the radio. The Ford Sale Brochure lists the feature as a "Securilock passive antitheft ignition system".

Some GMs use to have security built into the OEM radios, but none of the numerous Fords (4 Explorers, 1 Mustang, Freestar, 2 Mariners, etc.) I've owned ever have.

Maybe this helps.

Thanks.

Cool - thanks Korey. Guess I was thinking GM. All my other cars are Oldsmobiles. The only other Ford I have bought was a 95 Escort Ghia when we lived in England - nice car!

I sent the payment through.

Jeff
