I have added a Leer Cap to my Sport Trac 2002. Got a good deal but have to wire the brake light myself.

If I tie into the wires for the tail light or the hitch harness the brake light will flash with the turn signals. How do I overcome this problem???

Thanks

Up by the plug for trailers, there should be 2 wires labeled CHMSL (Center High Mount Stop Light). Just wire into those and it should work fine, coming on only with the brakes.

RSS,

The best thing to do is remove the spare tire, IN the wire harness that runs along the back of the truck where the tire went, you will find the 2 wires Jeff is talking about...

Cut the caps off and splice in there and run the wires up the cavity behind the existing tail light..

IF you splice into the tail light it self, THE light on the cap will flash with what ever directional you have on....

I wish all cars came with separate brake and directional bulbs...
