Tail lights stay on when truck is parked with key off

I just noticed that my '01s tail lights are staying on after I put it in park and take the key out of the ignition! This would be the running lights, not the brake lights. The front running lights do not turn though. This happens with the headlights on or off. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to start?

I would start at the fuse panel. Then the flasher/relay underneeth the driver guage cluster, near your feet/gas pedal. Sounds like the relay is stuck on.

check the trailer connector for shorts and/or corrosion. it could be feeding back there...

Are you sure it is the taillights and not the brake ??/



Only reason i ask is the 3rd brake bulb could be burnt out and just because it is not lit your assuming it is not the brakes..
