I hope this is the last question I bug people with concerning wiring options!

Here is what is in the works:

I am keeping the stock 6 disc changer HU. Replacing stock 6" sub with upward firing box & 10" JL Audio 10W1v2-4 and MTX Thunder 280 amp. The amp has three terminals for HI input.

L-GND-R

I'm fine with the wiring protocol if I tap into the two rear door speakers for the input thanks to stonemiser. But, I am curious about tapping into the existing wiring for the stock sub. The schematics show http://www.zjstech.net/~library/4358/Radiowiring.htm:

Subwoofer (-) Sm. Red Black

Subwoofer (+) Sm. Grey Orange

Subwoofer Shield Sm. Black

Subwoofer Enable/Clip Detect Sm. Teal Purple

ASYSON Sm. Lt. Green Black

Any ideas what the Sm. Lt. Green Black is for? My main concern is, can I use any of this to input into the MTX amp and what would the layout be?

Would Subwoofer (-) Sm. Red Black to GND and Subwoofer (+) Sm. Grey Orange to L or R work? Will there need to be a signal to both the L & R inputs on the amp?

I will more than likely be installing a 4-channel amp for the door speakers (already replaced door speakers with Pioneer TS-A6871R 6"x8") in the future and continue to retain the stock HU. I don't want to have to tap into any of those channels for sake of keeping clean signals.

Thanks everybody for all the help. It is greatly appreciated!:)

It's probably only a single channel going to the stock sub. If the sub has a low level filter, you can get by just tapping inot the rear speakers in the doors. (alittle more work, but that's what I did but I'm running 2 subs off a two channel sub amp) If you are only running one sub, you could get by with just the single input and hook the wires up to either the right or left input, so using the stock sub wires as a tapping area would work.;)

Yes. I am going to run only the one sub. I guess I just want to clarify if my idea of the following wiring scheme would work.

Subwoofer (-) Sm. Red Black to GND

Subwoofer (+) Sm. Grey Orange to L

or

Subwoofer (-) Sm. Red Black to GND

Subwoofer (+) Sm. Grey Orange to R

Thanks again!

Doesn't really matter by the way the amp you are hooking up is set up. If you hook it to the R side input, make sure your sub wires are hooked to the R side outputs (and visa versa if hooked into the L input). If there is only one output channel, then your sub mixes the R and L inputs together, which is not a problem, just hook the wires to the sub to single output.;)
