In the last two weeks my sport trac has developed a thumping vibration when turning right at 40mph or above. It doesn't have to be a sharp turn, just changing lanes will cause it and it only happens when turning right. I had new tires, shocks, front ball joints installed about 3 or 4 months ago. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on what it could be? It's a 2003 with about 99k miles.

Thanks,

Brent

Thanks for the quick replies. I didn't notice anything that looked broken or worn but I'm in no way an expert. I've included some pics to see if anyone else spots something that looks like it needs replaced. The vibration can be felt in the gas and brake pedals.

Just noticed in my last picture (above) the lower ball joint (I think) has a bunch of grease on it. Went out and looked at it and there is a cut in the rubber. This is on the drivers side. The lower ball joints were replaced in March, but could this be causing the vibration/thumping when turning slight right?

It's possible however unlikely. If you were having a ball joint issue you would have other symptons, especially when the suspension cycles.

I have exactly the same problem. I've changed almost every wearable part in my front left and its still there. I'm now down to the CV joint. The replacement arrived today. Will let you know how it turns out.

Just because there may be no play in the wheel bearing doesn't mean that the bearing is ok, The bearings will start making noise before they develop play.
