Aloha folks, what would you folks think of time interval for oil change. I maybe drive 5-8 miles one way. Three times a week or so. (yea, not many miles) 'last change was April 6, 2020 gone maybe 1000 miles on Mobile One oil and Ford filter. Should I change it soon?
TKS Ed

I think a change in october (six month interval) would be sufficient.
I have similar circumstances. I drive less than 2000 miles a year, mostly short (< 5 mile) trips, which, from what I read, is tough on oil due to acid and moisture build up. I change oil and filter every six months with pennzoil synthetic and motorcraft filters, regardless of mileage. Some (most?) other members will think that is too often and unnecessary, but I feel comfortable with that schedule. 2010 STA, 4.6L, 55k miles.

Thanks Richard, I will keep an eye out for discoloration,

I agree, 6 months is good....

I am in the same category,2,000 miles in 6 mo. It's almost as clean as when I put it in . I'm thinking maybe I should change it anyway . Its not that exspensive .

Considering your low annual mileage, I'd
> replace DrainPlug\Bolt with a Fumoto DrainValve; quick, less mess, eliminates chance of stripping threads
> replace Filter with a K&N having EasyOff HexNut; quick on+off, slightly higher FlowGPM, slightly lower ByPassPSI
> change Oil every 6mths or 10k miles, whichever comes first
> change Filter every 12mths or 10k miles, whichever comes first
If you haven't changed OilPressurized TimingTensioners in last 75k miles or 10yrs, do so now.

Aloha Jerry, like you said, "it is not that expensive. Low miles equals short trips for me, which is hard on oil. 5 weeks now and 600 miles. Maybe it will go 'till Christmas!
Don't eat too much turkey Ed

Thanks , drain valve very good Idea. K&N filter good idea . Timing tensioners I have to look into . Getting hard for me to do some of that du to age.

Yep, I'm getting there to soon too. Correction should say
"If you have V6~4.0L~SOHC & not changed OilPressurized TimingTensioners in 75k miles or 10years, do so now."
