Well, today I finally picked-up my '05 ST. It actually arrived yesterday, but I gave the dealership a day to get it prepped and get the tonneau cover installed.

First impressions:

Good: The sliding rear window is a huge hit. I like the rubber floors for ease of cleaning. The tonneau cover is fabulous and far excedes my expectations. The simple cruise control controls are nice. Ride seems pretty good despite all the bashing I've heard about the factory shocks and rear sway bar. Acceleration isn't bad for a V-6 lugging over 5000 lbs. I already used the bed cage extender to haul a friends lawn mower and yard tools.....very convenient.

Bad: The plastic housing around the radio looks very cheap. I don't dig the white instrument cluster. The fuel access door seems very flimsy. I don't like the "bag" that mounts under the arm-rest which is meant to act as a storage bin, instead of a permanently affixed plastic box. The honey-comb shaped grill is going to be a real pain to keep clean in the south with all the bugs we have here. I have also noticed a slight vibration from the accelerator pedal when applying gas.

All in all, it seems like a great vehicle. I'm so glad I finally got it. I'll try to post some pictures in the near future. In the mean-time, if anyone has some good tips for a cherry owner, or can mention things to watch out for during the first 5000 miles, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

DD:)

Congrats on your new vehicle. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine. The only thing I can say about the shocks is, when you "upgrade" them you do really notice a differance. I didn't think mine were that bad until I got my Rancho RSX's on. Anyway, congrats again.;)

D'Davy,

You're gonna enjoy this site. We can tell you things that the military might

have to de-brief you for (as far as Ford is concerned!). But we will always

be here to help you! ;)

Congrats, and welcome home! Glad you made back safely. Enjoy your ST, and hold on to your wallet!!!:D

Want to upgrade your console? Here ya go...

I bought my ST with the bag instead of the full console on purpose. To me the full console was wasted space. I knew I was going to replace the oem radio and didn't think the vents were necessary in a small vehicle like the ST. Even though I'm happy with the bag there is a lot of unused space in the middle. I would like to find a functional aftermarket center console that would give me more storage space and maybe more drink holders. If anyone comes across something like that, let me know.

Welcome to the site and enjoy your Trac. GET NEW SHOCKS NOW! You will be amazed. Rancho RSX, Monroe Reflex or NAPA Reflex. You can install yourself without raising the Trac. I believe that my comment will be supported by the "Old Timers" here. The OEM shocks have a good ride, but you will find control to be lacking and sometimes downright unsafe with the factory shocks. Remember, you have a truck frame and suspension under that body and it needs to have truck rated shocks.
