Tow hitch

My friend recently traded his ST for a Prius and I'm inheriting his Ford hitch. I want to put some paint on it to prevent any future corrosion. I'm leaning towards POR-15 which is a high quality rust preventive coating available in a kit for about $22. Does this sound reasonable or does someone have a better idea?

Sand and prep it really good and the por 15 is great, IT may take 3 days to cure but that stuff is great..

Consider having it sprayed with Line-X. I did. It only cost me $65. It will never rust, and the Line-X coating won't peel, it lasts forever, and it looks great.
