Can I tow an 01 sport trac 4 wheels down by installing the neutral switch? I've been told it has to be an 03 or newer. I've also been told that it will work anyway and just tell the dealer to install it. Any help would be great.

Thank you

Could yank the rear shaft and let the front spin away,, it turns any way while driving...

Actually I don't recommend that on long towing trips....

Better yet, forget that... Get the neutral kit...

If you wanted to drive here to NY I would inatall it for you...

From what I read, the 2003 and on 4x4 Tracs are the only ones that can be fitted with a neutral switch.

If your Trac is a 4x2, you could install a Remco driveshaft disconnect to tow your Trac 4 down. The cost is about $1000.00 for the driveshaft disconnect. I am willing to bet it would work on a 4x4 too, but dont quote me on that.

Gene: I've had a Remco driveshaft disconnect on my '01 for more than two years now - tow it behind my motorhome and it has worked flawlessly. Cost about $1200 installed as I recall. I actually bought one of the neutral switches first, but when my Ford dealer got behind the dash, they discovered they couldn't hook it up.
