I just bought a 23 foot wellcraft that weighs about 3300lbs dry. Do you guys think this may be a problem? and at 45k miles should I beef anything up on the truck? I am going to replace the spark plugs and rearend to a 4.10 set soon.

i dont have any problem pulling a 20 foot pontoon boat and trailer that weigh in at 4000 lbs total with 4.10 gears... do you have a trans cooler? also try not to use your over drive too much... i used mine but only on highways at cruising speeds to help the gas mileage

I tow about 3800 with no problems. No modifications and 175K miles. Speed makes a HUGE difference on gas mileage. I leave the OD off while towing.

Boats are tough getting out of the water (steep ramps). I have a 4X4 so its no problem.

you should be fine then... just watch your speed and use the OD sparingly if you do use it... and do an oil change and other routine maintenance before any long trips.

I have a gen2 v6 and tow a travel trailer roughly 5300lbs including cargo with no problems at all but i live in flat florida and the furthest i go with it is 3hrs away. I see u have a v8 and it should be a breeze for u. I have weight distribution, sway bar, trailer brake, always drive with o/d off, slow starts, and never go over 55mph(my comfort zone).

Change your trans fluid and get a class III/IV frame hitch and haveun... the weight is fine, and boats have very little meaningful frontal area.. Thet are streamlined.... tow easy and have a long tongue. balance the boat on the trailer for the proper tongue weight (10%)

I have a small hunter yacht 24' and when we go on trips... we never have issues loaded its about 3500 pounds and even though it is streamlined, it takes a large place on the road to catch side winds My STA with a blower works perfect and I lose about 2 mpg with the current set up No gear changes and now I have about 32K on the clock so maybe a tranny service is in my future too!

4;10 may be high for the towing highway on the gen2.....

Try it and see, but i bet the STA laughs at that load.... max is something like 5,500 lbs for the ST any way..

Ditto what others have said. Your V8 Trac shouldn't have any problems towing the boat. Only thing to consider is tongue weight, and whether or not you need a weight-distribution hitch to level out the rear end.

The V8 Trac is rated for towing up to 7,160 lbs.

Your STA won't hardly know that a 3300lb boat is back there.:driving:
