Well.....it happens to everyone and it finally happened to me last night. Some little pukes broke into our 'secured' underground parking, decided to bust my drivers side front window. Thing is, I had a club on the truck, stock stereo, glove box and arm rest box were both empty and open, nothing was in the truck. Now its just time and hassle. I'm debating whether I should pay my 300 (or maybe they raised it to 400) deductible or just pay out of pocket for new window. I'm betting on the deductible though. How much is a new driverside window? how easy to install? this is my first post since the break in, I'll be doing a bit more research online. speaking of that, I'm gonna pump up the security on my door at my place now. I'm pissed.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I had a similar experience when I owned my 03 Trac. Some punks busted out one of my rear door windows and stole my laptop. I had to call around, but found a shop to replace it for less than $300. Yours might be a little cheaper than that as the front glass is not the tinted stuff.

I just paid the money out of pocket to fix it. I personally believe in saving the insurance claims for the "big ones". One to many small claims and they will drop you light a hot potato and you will find yourself looking for another insurance company. Good luck.

I doubt you will ever reach your deductable.

I had a windshield replaced last week. After sales tax, the price was $207.00. I doubt the front window will be more, if any then the windshield.

I do recomend requesting Carlite Auto glass. Ford is the only auto maker that produces thier own glass. It isn't anymore expensive then the others. Plus it will match the other windows.

haha...I think I'll just sit in the underground for a while with a bat :) ah the pleasure that would bring me.

ok, so request Carlite Auto Glass, check.

ah man, its pouring outside, and everything will be closed until tuesday. I guess I'll have to plastic it for the time being if I'm going to be able to drive anywhere. Thankfully my deductible is only 200, and our insurance up here in BC Canada is through the government, it has no effect on my claim rated scale when it is through theft or vandalism, I'm betting this will be the way to go. Ah, the f*kn hassle, and being hung over dealing with this does not help the situation at all

I paid $180.00 for the driver-side rear window on my '03. Average estimates around Sacramento were $200.00.

Don't bother with a claim unless it is well over your deductible. Safelite is a good company, but I don't know what you have for choices there.

I have direct access to over 1800 salvage yards. I found hundreds of door glass...

It will be used OEM glass and will need freight to be added. I can get a guesstimate price on the freight if you are interested.

Average price on the glass to where I feel it is still worth buying is $65.00.

I found it for as hight as $375.00 and as low as $30.00 but they will not freight it.

So the $65.00 is probably the best way to go and still get it from a reputable shop.

Let me know if I can help...

It doesn't hurt to check with your Ins. Agent first. See what he/she has to say about this claim. That's what you pay them for. You don't have to file if you don't want to. Perhaps the 'secured' underground parking should be contacted too. Just a thought. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Sounds like an inside job; I mean someone inside the building since the gated parking is (or should be) alarmed. Work with management on finding out who did it. Sooner or later they talk (brag) to someone. All you need to do is get the word out around your complex. Also, if all your windows were broken you could go over your deductable, in which case it should also be reported as vandalism. :( Good Luck.:)

Go to a salvage yard and buy the window. I paid 35.00 for my sons rear drivers on his neon, the glass folks wanted 200.00 and it was used glass!

The chiltons manual had step by step instructions on how to remove, replace, and adjust. I removed the remnants of the old glass before I went and got the "new" glass so that I had all the proper tools and know how BEFORE I went out in the hot sun. Took 5 minutes to get the glass out of the donor and 5 minutes to replace... and I didnt have to adjust anything.

Check with your insurance. That falls under your Comprehensive insurance wich includes vanalism, theft, fire and storm damage, and many people have a much lower deductable on Comprehensive claims, and even lower deductables for glass breakage.

I carry $200 deductable on my Collision and Comprehesive coverage, however I only have a $50 deductable on glass breakage. Many people have similar or no deductables on glass breakage and don't know it, so I always recommend that you chech with your insurance company.

Thanks for all the replys and info, I figure I'll go out and get it fixed towmorrow. I have a 300$ deductible for damage, and a $200 for glass breakage. I've already spoken with 6 different people from my building, in the same parkade as me. Seems they've all had there vehicles broken into. I've told my apart. manager that I want my vehicle moved above ground, in a parking area beside our building, giving me the perfect view of my truck out the window.

Here's the scoop, I took my truck outside today (underground parking is pretty dimly lit) to look at the damage, worse than I thought, the paint along my door has been chipped, also along my passenger door and they keyed my driverside front quarter panel. Also, interior paneling has been scratched and gauged. Took it in to ICBC today and they estimated damage at over $1100 dollars, so ya, I'm simply paying the deductible (300) to get this shiat fixed. What a piss off.
