I have a 2005 sport trac 2wd automatic, and am interested in trading with someone that has a 4x4 or a manual trans sport trac, or both if those exist.

Maybe you don't use your 4wd much and want to get better gas mileage? Or drive a lot of traffic and would really like an automatic instead?

Its a long shot, but if you are at all interested, let me know! depending on the age/mileage and value difference we could work out additional cash to make it an even and fair swap either way.

my truck has 109k highway miles on it, and is in excellent shape.

absolutely. I prefer a manual trans, but finding a modern suv/truck with one is getting harder and harder...

I have 2001 4x4 ST with only 79700 original miles (!) in it. Color is black. I'm here in California so you can be sure that the truck never seen snow/salt. Now, yours is obviously high on its mileage, are you thinking trade and some cash? I like black and yours is red. But if the number is right, we might be able to swing it. Will post picture soon!

Well, ideally the truck would be a little closer to me, in St louis, so that I can check it out before committing to buying or traveling across the country for it.. i would most likely just trade mine in for a 4x4 at a local dealer before i went all the way west for one!

Nice, well, I wouldnt call that essential.

Handbrake is totally essential, GM started the whole pedal e-brake movement, and look where they are now (bankruptcy). Everyone else should stop following their example.

Getting your right foot to the clutch so that the left can articulate the ebrake would be a pita, and then you'd have to switch feet again to get the left on the clutch and the right on the throttle.

..and you'd have to have a hand to pull the ebrake release. It is possible to push the pedal with the ball of your foot and pull the release lever from the back, with the top of your toe, but that got me a rather nasty nail ingrowth so that doesn't count for much. Driving with a block of wood in the ebrake release to lock it open is cheap.

Not to mention that it is easier to set the handbrake when parked than to use the pedal, since your hand is already in the vicinity, and it is harder to forget to release the lever than the pedal, as the lever engaged is more obvious than the pedal depressed.

:back2topic:

Can a manual ST have rear ac? That's a spiffy feature, but I don't see how the air duct could be in place with the shifter coming through the floor.

I just need the parking brake for just that, parking. I don't need to perform crazy stunts.

No, the manual could not have AC in the rear.

If you're a manual driver who likes to use the e-brake when stopped on hills so that you don't roll back so much before you can switch into gear--which is something of a common courtesy--the handbrake is far easier than a pedal that really takes both a foot and a hand to articulate.
