tranny swap update

I got tranny for my 01 ST from the wreckers.. since i had told him all the 5R55E are all the same trannys he give me the diffrential aswell..Am getting it put on monday and let you guys know how it goes..aparently am suppose to get better fuel econmy with the drivetrain out of a regular explorer; which woun'r be so bad since my brother does lots of highway driving..i'll let all you guys how it goes..

If any one has any suggestion or has done this before let me know..Because am not sure it the regular explorer diffrential housing is the same as the ST's...

Yup. Same differential. Ford 8.8

The only difference would be the gear ratio.

You will have to reprogram the ECU for the diferent gear ratio...or your speedo will be way off and trans will not shift at the correct intervals...

thanxx eddie i forgot about that...i think am gona get my xcal2 updated and c if i can update the ecu with that

Hopefully you have a 4x2. If you have a 4x4, you will also need to replace or get new ring and gear in the front differential if the rear differential ratins are different on the other differential you have.
