Tom,

So you work with magnets!! So what? I live on a planet that is a big magnet. :D

What's your point? I never said that the magnetic field was infinite!

My point was that your transmission would be shot and you would be walking long before you would pack so much metal debris on the magnet that it would be fully saturated and not capable of attracting and holding any more metalic particles.

The only thing we seem to disagree about is the value and frequency of changing the transmission filter based on preferences to flush or drop the pan to change the fluid. However, whenever you cannot convince someone that your way is the only way, you want to play word symantics in an attempt to prove they are wrong.

You continue to argue and come up with different scenarios until you can find a word or phrase that someone used that you can exploit or twist the meaning to prove that everything they said was wrong.

And silly me thinks you are truely interested in discussing our differences.

Sorry, but I won't get pulled into your web.

How much longer are you guys going to beat this horse? I suspect that that the vast majority of Trac transmissions will go well over 100K without any service at all. Besides, no one can be absolutely sure that a 30K service interval will extend the life of a particular transmission indefinitely. Of course, it is somewhat entertaining to read the banter between you guys as you attempt to convince the world that you are right and others wrong when there is really only a difference of opinion and semantics.

Rich,

You say I argue, yet you still think you are right? Funny. Sounds like the pot is calling the kettle black.

I pulled the pan off my Trac back in 2003. The magnet was covered with metallic dust. A slow sream of water washed away much of the particles.

Whatever though. I am stupid and I don't understand anything. You win. Make you feel better?

FWIW, I change my fluid on a regular basis.

My web, try looking at your own web.

Bill,

Thank you! that is precisely my point and exactly what I said.

Tom,

I never said you were wrong and never said that I was right, it's just my opinion vs yours. And the fact is that neither one of us can prove we are right or the other person is wrong. I'm only expressing my opinion based on my 59 years on this earth and having spent a majority of that time under a car or under the hood.

IWhat does having your magnet covered with particles have to do with what is being accomplished by the filter. or by the magnet? Even if this debris is just laying in the bottom of the pan (which it often is), it only shows that it was not trapped and retained by the filter, and it's not being attracted to the magnet, and it's not being circulated throught the transmission. It's just laying harmlessly in the bottom of the pan, which supports my opinion more than it does yours.
