Transmission Temp Gauge

I know this topic has been touched on, but I couldn't find anyone that answered it. Where/how is the best place/way to tap in for the sending unit of a tranny temp gauge? I'd love to hear how other's have done it. I have no other than the stock cooling.

i put one in the front by the battery where the lines go in to the radiator using the autozone block

I put the sensor in the pan, on the side. This way the sensor is submersed in the fluid. For the wire from the sensor put a disconnect plug on the wire with a 8" lead. This way when I change the transmission filter, I just unplug the sensor wire and the pan is free.

Mounted the gauge on the pillar. The interior is gray so had to paint the gauge holder. Used some vinyl paint. Still looks good 4 years later and the gauge works.
