My o/d transmission light just came on in a transmission I put in from the junkyard…last week. drives great. Shifts a little rough changed oil and filter….
Anybody got experience with this happening
Means trannys going????
Do I have time
To save up. Working ok at the moment

Start by reading the OBD2 TroubleCodes, specificly for the Tranny?
5r55e Transmissions run for years with issues or can break down tomorrow.
I'd drive it gently for the moment. Problem(s) could range from
as simple\cheap as topping off the MerconV ATF,
to needing a PanDrop & VBBoltRetorq & BandAdjust & fresh Filter+MerconV,
to needing a new ValveBodyGasket &\Or new Solenoids &\Or rebuilt VB,
to as expensive as needing a full rebuild Or new Tranny.

Thank you
That’s what I thought

Change the solenoid pack....

Google it for regular explorer 2008-10 same thing. its about $400... most common failure first then it eats up the trans.... it can be band aid or fix it... its always a crapshoot.

If you have a 2001 there is a known problem with the valve body gasket failing around the solenoid that controls shift from 3rd to 4th gear. Just a thought but this is particular to 2001 model year.

If doing PanDrop & replacing Solenoids or ValveBodyGasket, just as well do several items:
~ Pan Drop + ATF Drain + Remove ValveBody
~ New ValveBodySolenoids + New ValveBodyBondedGasket + Torq ValveBodyBolts
~ Band Adjust
~ New DeepFilter + New DeepPan With DrainBung + New FumotoValve + New Pan Gasket
~ Refill With Fresh MerconV
~ Drain+Refill Twice More Or HandPump 1~2qt From DipTube Several Times For Full ATF Change
