I just got off the phone with my sister who lives 20 min from Galveston, TX. She is in progress of evacuating this evening. She said gas prices are not climbing on the average 2.64 a gal. Also she says *her words* "Texas has Got it Down!* She says when the hurricane was announced Texas already had places for evacuees and buses are in place already in Galveston and surrounding areas that do not have a way to Vacate.

Texas Rocks!

Nelson, don't worry they will be just fine, just need to leave early so they can beat the traffic. Same for the rest of you in the Storm path. Don't forget your pets and important papers! Thinking of all of you and my own family down in the Gulf area.

Sounds like the people have learned something from Katrina...

And the President can say whatever he wants. It's the Congress that will decide how the money is covered. Does anyone really think they - conservative, moderates OR liberals - will cut enough to cover the costs? I sure as hell don't. Their first priority is getting reelected and cuts that deep will guarantee a defeat.

Imagine the deficit that the Bush administration will leave the American public for the rebuilding of the coast?

Just curious, since when did hurricanes = gas price increases?

It seems now if you even mention hurricanes the price goes up. Has this always been the case?

Oh and God Bless you folks down in TX and surrounding areas
