I just got my TV card in today for my computer, and the software that came with it doesn't work, so I was wondering what you guys used, preferrably free.

I have an All-In-Wonder 9000 and I have only used it a few times tinkering.

If your software does not work, I would contact the vendor and get it replaced or find out why it doesn't work. You may just need to download a patch or and updated driver that's compatible with your operating system. If your are using Windows-XP, there were a lot of driver changes and your Video Capture card may have old software.

I have a WIN-PVR from Hauppage. They have software updates at their website. You need to give more information on what you have before we will be able to give any detailed help.

It's a "Super TV Tuner" basically the cheapest one Computer Geeks offers. I know I could have spent more money, but I already have a decent graphics card and was not in the market to buy a new one for JUST the addition of watching TV. All of the drivers installed fine, but the software said something about Windows can't run MS-Dos in my current configuration...

Well, if anyone cares, I'm using InterVideo's WinDVR and it works awsome! Just thought I'd share and thanks for the help.

Are you talking about TV tuner software or video capturing software. I had the same problem with a cheapo capture card I bought last year. I bought it to convert some old VHS and 8mm videos to dvd. The software that came with it just would not work right. It kept locking up the computer. Ended up using Windows movie maker to capture and then software from Cucusoft to convert to DVD.

I use DScaler, it is awesome and fixes any problems you will notice when watching high speed things, like sports games or anything like that.. also, DScaler is a TV viewing and Video Capture application that accesses the TV-Card directly and thus doesn't need drivers.

It is also FREE..

I have an old pci tv card from an old computer. one day i decided to throw it in (after cleaning off some melted rubberband and junk that had accumulated on it). I learned that they all use some standard chipset and was able to use DScaler to use it. I was surprised given its age, but now I have a resizable window that I watch tv in, and also it records very easily to incremental filenames.. I love it.. Can't believe I almost threw it away.. I only paid $30 for it about 6 years ago at a comp. convention..

emaili me if you want help or anything..
