I have a couple of friends that have ST's (yes I DO have friends), and I have told them reapeatably about this site but neither have bothered to check it out.

Same here...same here...there are at least six ST's where I work, I've told them all about this site and,well...screw 'em I guess i just love my truck more than they love their trucks.;)

There are a ton of ST's where I live and I have told at least 30 of them about this and I haven't seen a single one of them

Sometimes I are smart, sometimes I are just a "smart-arse"...

What is "carding" and "pinging", as related to our site?

Thanks...TnB...

"Carding" means the act of putting one of the MYST business cards that lists the URL to this website under the wiperblade of an ST you see parked somewhere.

I can only assume ping used in the context above means to try to solicit, to get one's attention, or to see if someone is responsive.... i.e. "I pinged him to see if he was interested."

I am not a big fan of some stranger coming up to me a wanting to talk about anything. The world it a lot different then it was twenty years ago. I tell people to shove off if they come to me and act like we are long lost brothers because we own the same car or are wearing the same brand of shoes. Hell, how do I now that person isnt a Nazi or a pedifile or both? Like MJ said "leave me alone" (and yes I quoted MJ, uh-oh, there goes my lower intestine again).

Ape,

Long time (for me) no hear!

Howthehellareya!

I understand your concern, and I agree 99%? But has the world really, I mean

REALLY gotten that bad? I try to pay attention to things going on in the world

today, but when a person can't approach another person in a friendly manner

to say "Hi, how are ya!" and introduce himself, without fear of the Apocalypse,

or something, then what are we all still here for, anyway?

(Ape, You're SCARING me, cut it out!!!).

The world isn't that much different than it was 30 years ago. You are still about as likely to be the victim of a violent crime, it's just the media showcases them so much more the past 20 years (if it bleeds it leads).

Peope being uncordial and introverted because they think that times have changed is a self-fullfilling prophecy.

well, I hope he didnt think I was gay since my beautiful girlfriend was standing next to me. lol

As for the "strangers" approaching and talking, I was at a private wedding, not on a street corner. I figured nothing wrong with a simple convo at the BAR no less. These aren't places you sit and keep to yourself but whatever, I thought it was funny.

TJR,

30 years ago you could leave your front door unlocked when you go to bed, now a days you not only need a dead bolt but a monitored alarm.

Times have changed. I am not happy about it its just a reality of life.

Star36,

I am not sure what that post means? Please explain.

Regarding locked doors, Ape, it depends on where you live. The house I have lived in the past 8 years has locks, and we lock them every night, and I feel that I need to lock them to keep my family safe. But the reality is that NO ONE has attempted to open the doors to our house during the last 8 years while we were sleeping; and if someone really did want to get in, they could (in almost any house).

Regardless, I will still keep my doors locked at night because it is the responsible thing to do. However, if I thought that I HAD to keep them locked to keep people out I would probably move.

I agree it was the Zinc Yellow.... and I own one! I think to participate at this site you have to be intrinsically curious and also feel that the ST is a great, somewhat unique vehicle. The political rants and raves from Rocco et al are just a bonus...You also have to be ignoring the huge pile of correspondence on your desk and your chief technician imploring you to get back to work....

30 years ago, there were no prostitutes, drug dealers, and crack heads in my neighborhood and most neighborhoods in my city.
