"This makes the first time that anyone ever got electrified at a John Kerry speech."--Jay Leno

Based on this, I'm glad (and somewhat surprised) to see that, so far, none of the more conservative members of this site are trying to attribute this to Kerry and claim that he's just trying to silence those who disagree with him.

I call 'em as I see 'em. Campus police, I don't see how he had anything to do with it.

As Ron White said "I had the right to remain silent; I chose not to!" :)

I too, can not see the video at work, but if he was told that he would be arrested for disturbing the peace, and he elected not to comply, then he deserves what he got. There have been so many complaints when police try to wrestle folks to the ground and end up striking them, police often have no choice but to use a taser. Life is tough, it's tougher if you are stupid.

I think it became an issue when he was fighting back with the police. Should he have been able to ask questions? Yes, that is how our society is set up. But once the police got involved to escort him out and he became physical in their direction, he crossed the line from a legal stand point.

Should the police have removed him, well, that depends on his attitude and what their direction was from their supervisors.

This kid went in with an agenda. He knew before hand that he was going to disrupt the meeting. He called the police officers hand. What were they suppose to do? My opinion he got what he deserved. The sad thing is now he will become somewhat of a celebrity. There are too many time that police abuse their power. We need to concetrate on the real abuse, not this made up crap.

What a Jerk. I can't stand 'over the top' / 'outrageous' / 'overly opinionated' troublemakers who take for granted the fact that they have the freedom of speech by causing a retarded scene with yelling and screaming in some odd attempt to try to convey whatever message or feeling they have. This guy was just being obnoxious + rude + unproductive and from what I saw only wanted attention and to pick a fight. He got what he deserved and unfortunately no one in the audience clapped when he was tasered.

Taze him, just cause he's a dumbass and a traitor.

<zap>

"Did you say something?"

<zap>

"I'm sorry, did I hear you?"

<zap>

Now Mr. Kerry, do you understand that the American People hate traitors? Oh yeah, and that heckler was arrested.

<zap>

But as far as the kid goes, what a dumb POS. It was all about his 5 minutes of fame. The news media has given him that and more (same way with the Britney Spears Appologist).

From what I've seen and read, the Dumb Ass cut his way in line, asked a battery of beligerant questions, did not respect the authoritative figures standing nearby trying to keep the peace and was just an imbicle.

Now, the better question would have been how would the media reacted if instead of Kerry it was any of the following:

- GW Bush

- Dick Cheney

- Rudy Guliani

- Newt Gengrich

- Elizabeth Dole

- Chris Bond (R - MO)

(Note - some well known, others not so much but all Republicans)

Well, I realize it's not a direct apples-to-apples comparison, but the media did get on Bush and Cheney during their presidential campaigns for the way they pre-screened the questions at any "question and answer" sessions they had during their two presidential campaigns. The only people who were allowed to ask questions were Bush-backers who were fed canned softball questions. (Don't get me wrong, I know that some Dems and others do this as well--but not with the consistency Bush/Cheney used this tactic in a nationwide contest.)

Look up a Mr. William Kelly. He went to a Clinton town hall meeting and politely asked a question about taxes that got Bill really angry because it was not a scripted one he was prepared for. Later that evening the Secret Service showed up at his house and arrested him. When he asked why, they couldn't give him a reason but they told him they would "find something". Later on the charges were dismissed. He was mad enough that he ran for Congress, but he lost to the incumbent.

Clinton was head of the Ozark Mob. A lot of people that disagreed with him ended up mysteriously dead.

While I agree, I am surprised that most of the people on here think he deserved to be arrested, even if they thought the tazing was a bit much. From the accounts that I have seen, and some of the "full" videos I have seen on the net, this guy jumped in front of the line, made a seen, wouln't stop asking questions when he was told he had used up his allotted time, and then resisted arrest. Once you are being detained by cops, if you resist, they have the right to use resonable force -- granted, you can debate "reasonable". I got no problems here.

I have seen some say his first ammendment rights were infringed upon. From what I have seen, he was infringing on the rights of others by making a scene and making it all about himself so they couldn't ask questions appropriately. Heck, taze him again for good measure.

Rocks

Had he simply allowed the officers to escort him out of the building, he probably would have walked away... I don't believe they initially intended on arresting him. When he started pulling away and resisting he forced them to step it up.

He wanted to make a scene...and succeeded.

i showed my kids the video..(14 and 18)...and they agreed with me.

the student asked for it.

once he resisted the cops..."katie, bar the door"....

the rules shouldn't be changed just because you want them to...he was breakin' the law.
