Have you locked the keys in the car?

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are

home, call someone at home on your cell phone and ask them to get your

car keys.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other

person at home press the unlock button on your keys while holding it

near the phone on their end.

Your car will unlock. It will save someone from having to drive your

keys to you.

Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you

can reach someone who has the remote" for your car, you can unlock the

doors (or the trunk this way!)

Received this via email- seems impossible but.........

lasik1,

It seems impossible, because it is impossible!

The part about holding the cellphone a foot away from the door while someone presses the "Unlock" button is the dead give away, since the antenna for the security module is not in the door. Also the RF signal is wrapped in the carrier signal and would not transmitted in the clear and would not be able to be picked up by the microphone or reproduced by the speaker in the phone.

A while back, my wife and her sister insisted that I try this on the sister-in-laws k k k Kia Pet, I mean Kia minivan. As expected, didn't work. They even 'made' me carry the phone all around the k k k Kia.

I'm with you FMarano !!

I'll bet someone pull this on unsuspecting fool and actually had an extra remote hidden in their pocket to make it look like the cellphone actually transmitted the unlock signal from another remote through the cellphone.
