Hello All,

I have had a ST for almost 8 years now, a 2001 XLT. It is quickly approaching 125k. I really like it except for the gas mileage. I have located a 2005 Dark Stone Adrenaline with only 27k. Not sure I really like the newest body style so thought I would try and find a low mileage ST with the similar body style of mine. Besides the miles and condition, I was wondering if you guys could point out anything to put in my "pros" list for making the purchase. For example: I have heard the brakes are larger and better.... Thanks for all your thoughts!

I have an 05 Dark Stone Trac. I really do think it is a very sharp color, just waxed it and it looks very metallic and pristine. I dont have an adrenalin, but i think you will enjoy the sound system it employs. 27K is very low mileage. I just bought my 05 (non-adrenaline) from a dealer Feb 2008 for about 13K. It had 50K miles on it. I have seen dealers trying to sell these vehicles (similar 2005's) with like 10-40 thousand miles for well over 17K. IMO thats rediculous. If you can grab it for less than 13K or5 just at, thats gonna be a steal.

You really should "drive" a 2nd gen (v8) before making your decision. The 05 will pretty much be identical to your 01. Of course I'm "biased". Lucky for us, STs hold their value better than Explorers (or unlucky if you are buying used).

You know, i have driven the 2nd gen. It seemed to nice, to explorerish and not trucky if follow me. Might try another one if this falls through. What kind of mileage do you get with the V8?

I just put up a post above about my recent trip with my 09 Adrenalin, and am very happy with the milage of the V8, on the stock tune. I got a max of 25.7MPG and averaged out to a strong 22.4 MPG and that was running at 1800RPM and 70 MPH.:driving:

I hear ya Marsha. I prefer to have a solid axle at least in the rear of my truck. One day I'm going to put one in the front as well.

V8 gets better mileage than the V6. I get 17.5 --> 18 in "mixed city" driving. I guess I can't really compare, as I have never been in or driven a 1st gen ST. I've had several (2nd gen) Explorers though.
