Can anyone tell me where the VSS wire is for installing a Navigation unit in my 2007 ST? I have a couple of wiring diagrams but neither are consistent with each other.

One says its violet with orange stripe and the other says gray with black stripe.

Thanks!

It's Violet/orange if I remember correctly, I got mine in the wire harness running up under the windshield whipper cowling to the whippers.

Any luck on finding the reverse light? I think its bown/blue on the drivers kickpanel, but I just want to make sure if anyone else has found it.

I got my VSS wire from the #1 pin on PCM Purple/Orange wire. Others have taken it from the windshield wiper motor. I'm not sure what wire it is at the wipers.

Where is the PCM? I have the D3 and I have it connected to what I think is the right wire on teh passengers kick panel, however.... At about 35-40Mph, the nav unit loses the signal and the unit says I don't have the speed sensor wire hooked up.

The PCM is on the engine side of the firewall on the passenger side. It has a 50 pin plug going into it. You can use a wire tap and carefully protect where it runs through the firewall.

On the D3, you can go into the setup screen showing the VSS input. It will start to beep faster as you drive faster if you have it on the right wire.

Perfect. It's Pin 1 on the 50 pin, I got it and it works great!

Now, one left.... anyone know how to get to the reverse light wire? Sorry to be a pain with all these questions, but I've spent way too much time searching the internet, boards etc..

Once I am done, I'll post a few pics of the install, it looks pretty good I think.

Reverse should be brown/blue under the driver's side rocker panel. If this is not right let me know and I'll look at mine.

PERFECT.... Works great. Only thing I couldn't seem to find is the illumination wire behind the dash. Not sure how much this would help me, but the unit works great now. Much more accurate now that I have the VSS hooked up.

If anyone knows where the illumination wire is off the top of their head, I'd like to hook that up the next time I'm in there.

Anyone know of a good reverse camera?

Brad the easiest thing to do is use the illumination wire from the gear selector illumination bulb. You will have to run a wire down to it (unless the wire on the radio harness is long enough) but it's easy.

I'm using the Pioneer reverse camera and it's "okay" but there are better ones out there.

I never hooked up the illumination since the avics do a good job of changing from day/night and I leave my headlights on all of the time.

Not sure about the camera. If you find one let me know, I am looking for one as well.

I know this is an old post, but why can't we just grab the VSS and illumination from the factory stereo wiring? The factory head unit illumination already fades and of course it's got a connection to the speed in order to do the speed volume function.

Are they just incompatible/non-standard signal formats? It would be much cleaner and easier if it were to work.
