My wife has a 2007 GTI. After about 3 months of owning it she gets a low tire. The car has a low tire pressure indicator system which alerts you to the problem on the dash via On-Board display and idiot light.

So she gets the tire fixed but the light remains on. Someone told me that you need to take it to the dealer to have the Tire pressure indicator reset.

Does anyone know if this is correct, or if it can be done at home? It's been about a month now, and the light remains on. The foreign cars have a reset button on the console, but not the american cars.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks!

Might want to read through the owners manual

The forums at vwvortex.com should be a good resource for this and other questions that come up. I've always found an answer to my VW questions there.

The owners manual should tell you how to reset it, either a procedure or by taking to a dealer. Better yet, if you have to take it to a dealer, rather take it to an import specialist shop. For something that minor, they probably won't even charge you, and won't try to lure you in with additional service. Shops like this would rather do you well now, in hopes you tell your friends and come back when you do need service.

you need to get it vag-commed. try searching in your area for local vw tuners that has a diagnostics vag-com. They'll most likely do it for free, the "stealership" will probably charge you.
