So I have 2 8" Kicker Solobaric L7 subs that I am hoping to get installed right away but am trying to find out what amp I should get to make the monst of these subs. I want to stay with kicker for the amp as well.

here are the specs on the subs:

Dual 4 ohm voice coils

900 watts max power handling

450 Watts RMS power handling

83.4 DB sensitivity

frequency response: 28 - 100 K

mounting depth: 4 11/16

cut out diameter: 7 -5/8

sealed box volume: .33 - .75 cubic feet

vented box .66 - 1.0 cubic feet

Square design gives more surface area than a normal round sub (this will sound like a 10" sub)

Solokon 1 piece cone

Cast aluminum basket

Santoprene rubber surrounds

I have 2 of these to install remember. Any help would be great.

You never ant to run the max on the speakers or the amp....

You should run a nice sized amp, at least 2X450 for a total of the 900 RMS you will have..

I think that is right...

The New years punch may be kicking in...

If you go with a mono amp it needs to be 1 ohm stable since you plan to run 2 dual 4 ohm subs.

If you go with a stereo amp then it will be a 2 ohm load on each channel.

You can and might want to over power those subs. If you look online I'm sure you will find LOTS of people running more than the recommend RMS to each speaker. You do need to be careful of course if you overpower, but it usually helps to have an amp that puts out slightly more power than the subs can handle and set the gain accordingly because then the amp won't clip and you will still get the most out of it.

SX1250.1 would be my recommendation from kickers site. 1 ohm stable, and class D mono amp.

You might also consider the JL Audio 1000/1. Delivers 1000 watts into 1.5-4 ohms with an input voltage between 11 and 14.4 volts. It's stable down to 1.5 so I would check into the .5 ohm split hair... Great Amps though... I have a 250/1 and a 450/4 in my SportTrac.

Big D,

I second the JL Amp, I own one and its a great performer, no overheating problems, but be sure to order it off ebay. They want almost $2000.00 here for one, and I got mine on ebay for $600.00.

The biggest problem that you will encounter is where to place an amp that size... Its fairly big, and any amp that can put out a decent 1000W will be.

Alpine has some new digital amps that are supposed to be now bad, however I have not had any experience with them... They are stackable as well....

www.caraudio.com is a good forum for questions... and most people are decent to talk to.
