Hi all,

I broke down and washed the trac yesterday.

No pics because it is just a stock trac.

Power washed first to get all the rocks and hard grit off then washed with a mit.

And yes I rinsed the mit often.

My question is, what is a good tire cleaner?

My father in law used something on his cars that left a stain on his driveway.

Water would bead up on the stain every time it got wet.

And did this year after year. Even after he died the stain and water beading

where still there.

I don't want a cleaner like that.

Reply away, please and thanks

Hi Chad, Lots of stuff will clean tires. I use Simple Green.

sounds like a tire "dressing" was used (i.e: armorall black tire spray).

that will leave stains on your driveway or any pavement. i dont spray it on my vehicle in my driveway. i do it in the street or a parking lot.

If really dirty, I use an abrasive household cleanser such as Comet or Ajax applied with a stiff bristle brush (also good to renew white lettered tires). Afterwords, I use an aerosol tire cleaner such as McGuires to restore a little shine - not too much.

When I rotate my tires, I get the inside of the tire and wheel.

I use Ajax lemon dishwashing detergent and a stiff brush with some elbow grease, no tire dressing as I don't like the look myself. Use a softer brush on the wheels.

Westley's tire brite, been using that and a scrub brush for 25 years.

If you have white letters try using a brass grill bruch with it.

So it's going to take some manual labor to get the tires clean?

I may not have been born in the, take the easy way generation,

but I have embraced it fully.

Oh well, I did brake down and wash the trac by hand.

here are the pic's

The "scrubbing bubbles" bathroom cleaner does a good job on whitewalls too. Spray it on thick, let it work for a minute or two, then hit it with a stiff brush a bit and rince.
