Bill where do you get your data from?
A T2 car is no way 60K race prepped not even brand new. Our race team runs 2 350Z in SCCA and I know for a fact they have less than 40K in the car and they do the work themselves. Don't count shop time to build as most competitive races (to win) know how to wrench and fab.
A new Spec Miata or MazdaSpeed Race Prepped Miata is not 60K. Maybe your high HP cars are, Porsche, Panoz, etc.
And, if your any good of a driver you get most of your parts at cost and your entries paid for. I know as I produce several driver marketing proposals.
You can buy a used E36 M3 for 18-30K turn key race car.
Remember there are a lot of different classes in SCCA.
I can run a Swift open wheel (FF class) brand new at 45K with engine.
Look in the back of SCCA monthly magazine, if your a member, and see all the cars for sale. Few are over 60K and if they are they are Porsche's or ex Grand Am cars.
