Here is what comes in the box: the safari bar, 2 mounting brackets, mounting hardware, and detailed installation instructions.

The first thing that needs to be done is to remove the splash guard located under the truck at the front. There are (3) 8mm bolts (wrong size mentioned in the directions) that need to be removed, shown in the white circles in the picture here (two of them had already been removed).

The next step is to remove the 10mm bolts (also listed incorrectly in the directions), two on each side of the splash guard (circled in white in the picture). Once these are removed, the splash guard is held up by two push-in retaining clips, one on each side. To remove the splash guard, grip it near the retaining clips and pull it straight down (retaining clips illustrated by yellow circle in the picture here.

Once the splash guard has been removed, the bolts that attach the tow hooks can be accessed. These bolts are 3/4" and are bolted on very tight. With this installation, complete removal of the tow hooks is not necessary. Loosen the bolts enough to slide the mounting brackets in between the tow hooks and the frame and slightly tighten the bolts. Leave the bolts loose enough to allow for the mounting brackets to slide side-to-side. See picture for an illustration of how the mounting brackets fit between the frame and the tow hooks. Repeat process for the other side.

At this point, the bar can be mounted to the mounting brackets. The kit includes the bolts (3/4") and washers to do this. The bolts are inserted from the back of the mounting bracket forward into the mounting holes of the bar. Tighten these bolts to 65 FT.LBS. Once completed, adjust mounting brackets from side-to-side as necessary to center the bar on the vehicle. Once centered, tighten tow hook bolts to 75 FT.LBS. Reinstall the splash guard in the reverse order of removal.
