What are the bed dimensions?

It is raining so I dont want to go out and measure. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions are of the bed with the tailgate up? I need to move something and want to make sure it fits.

50 inches long, 51.4 inches wall to wall, 41.2 inches wheelwell to wheelwell, 19.7 inches deep

What are the flat areas on top of the wheel well used for?

I assume they're just there to not take up as much space inside the bed. The stock tires have plenty of room underneath there so why compromise more bed capacity. That would be my guess anyway, I don't think they serve a specific purpose.

I think the flat places are to place a 2x4 or 2x6 to keep things from sliding forward or backward in the bed. I did that with my '04, 2x6 attached with velcrow. Worked well with a tonneau cover.
