What do you think of Dodge Caliber??

I need a second car for me and my girlfriend. I looked at a Calibur R/T today. I liked it, good gas mileage, AWD and nice interior. Anyone have any views on it either pro or con???

Peter, I think there are better choices..Chrysler is never all that great on gas or reliability.

Nice looking ride but I don't know anything about them. I've never cared for Mopars but maybe since Mercedes took over they're better.

Reliability standpoint is based on personal experiences IMO. My dad owns a Chrysler Crossfire and has had no problems at all. I think they look like fun little cars and AWD is always nice. A member Derek bought one about 6 months ago. I haven't heard much about it other than his original post. Always remember to be wary of a first year vehicle though.

I rented 1 for 2 weeks....



Rode like crap and got the worst MPG...



THE CVT tranny is cool though... and the drop down rear speaker panel in the hatch was cool..



But I would not buy one...



The scion is a good reliable cheaper car..

go with the SRT, 300 horsepower at 22 mpg city isnt bad.

I'd choose the Mazda3. The Caliber's are cute, but won't hold their value, and you get a lot of bang for your buck in the Mazda.

I also rented one in September, cute but the mpg was not as great as I thought it would be. Probably would have been better had it been a manual transmission.

IMHO, the Honda Fit, Civic or Mazda 3 would be a better buy. Holds resale much better too.

I've been eyeing one myself for a replacement for the 1996 Taurus that I have in addition to my ST. My family is growning so I need a better car for my wife (or I?) to drive.



I rented a Mazda 3 hatchback. THat was a slick little car (I had it for 3 days.... hint, never leave the sunroof open when it's supposed to storm when you are staying at a hotel).



Since I don't buy "new" cars, I wouldn't mind too much if they don't hold value that well since that should mean I can get one that is a year or two old in the near future for a fair price (if that's the way we decide to go).

We could not be happier with my wife's new RAV 4 with the V6. Good gas mileage (21-27), plenty of interior room and drives like a sports car.
