I am looking at buying a MTX THUNDERFORM Sport Trac custom box with a 10" sub and also looking at getting some Kicker 05DS68 6x8 2-way door speakers for all for doors. What size amp would I need to get and how do you wire an amp up?Specs for the Kicker speakers is

2-way car speakers for 5"x7" and 6"x8" openings

CIMP woofer cone with Polyfoam surround

1/2" PEN semi-dome tweeter

power handling: 6-35 watts RMS

frequency response: 45-20,000 Hz

sensitivity: 90 dB

peak power handling: 70 watts

top-mount depth: 2-3/8"

Specs for the MTX is

Enclosure Volume: 0.77 Cubic Feet

Subwoofer(s) Included: yes

Vehicle Location: Mounts under Rear Passenger Side Seat

Color: Black

Frequency Response: 35 -150Hz

Magnet Weight: 30 oz.

Efficiency: 90.7 dB

Impedance: 4 Ohm

RMS Power Handling: 225

Peak Power Handling: 450

Thanks for ther help.

I would purchase two amplifiers. One of which would be a Mono Block (single channel), and the second would be a four channel amplifier for all four door speakers.

For the sub: Try and match the speaker's RMS ratings and Max Ratings to the amp. The closer they match the better the speaker will work. You can over power the sub, but then you have a higher risk of blowing the speaker.

For the door speakers: do the same thing. Match the amp ratings with the speaker's ratings. I would personally go with a four channel amplifier.

As far as aesthetic: Its all up to you. There are all kinds of options out there especially with ebay.

I would stay away from ebay and stick to Pioneer, MTX, well known companies, etc. Buy from a certified online merchants, strait from the company, or from a shop in town. Warranty is everything and that is why I suggested the methods of purchase.

As far as "how to" There are instructions and talking to someone with a visual will help you out better. If you have not installed a system before, make sure you run through the process with an installer. Then come back here and ask specific questions on what you don't understand or need clarified.

Have FUN! :)
