Where would it go?

So, let's say hypothetically, (wink wink) something small (like a camera flash card) were sitting on your dash. And it slid forward, all the way under the windshield, out of site.



Where would it go? How would you access it to retrieve it?



If retrieving it would require a significant dash dismantle, and if you're not sure that that's what actually happened, but you wanted to check, is there any easier way to simply "check" that location without actually getting significant enough access to retrieve it?

1st suggestion... Use a shop vac, with a crevice attachment for the strongest suction, and see if you can pull it out between the windshield and the dash frame.



If you are sure it did not go into the defroster vents, then windshield removal may be needed. I went to a glass company and they resealed the windshield in a car I had for $45.00. (They have to remove the windshield to do so, and you would be able to retrieve your flash card while they do)

Removing the defroster grill should give you quite a bit more access to that area, it should just pop up..will take a bit of force though

id say with some driving and sharp turnin it would eventually come down to the floor board

Its gone to a planet, far away, in a distant galaxy, where single socks go and buttons that come off. So try the shop vac or house vac with a smaller crevice tool. If that fails, try one of those dental picks(the real kind) to try and dislodge it, so it gets sucked up by the vacuum. I hope whats on that card is worth it. Bob

FYI, a bit more info--my wife and I have been missing this flash card for about 8 months now. It disappeared shortly after we went to a Bon Jovi concert, where we had great seats (12th row on the floor) and had taken tons of great photos. We downloaded a couple off the card to do quick emails to some friends and family--but then the card disappeared before we copied anything more off of it. Last week, somehow the card came into the conversation again, and we suddenly started to think that maybe the last place either of us saw it may have been sitting on the dash on the drivers side while I was emptying my pockets looking for something else. And if that's the case, it *may* have just slipped forward, and in through wherever the ductwork by the glass goes. Hence the question on where any of those holes on the front of the dash lead.
