I am about to get new tires and rims but I am undesided about which tires to get. I have picked the BFG's A/T or the Pro Comp Xterrain. the size is 285-75-16 on the American Racing Victor Teflon rims. What do you think?

Well, I have had two sets of the BFGs on my 4Runner and like them. I have gotten good mileage on them. They are quiet until the last 6 to 8 thousand miles, then they make a little noise (not bad at all - the Trac is far better insolated for noise than the 4Runner). They handle well on or off road.

I have not used the ProComps.

From the tread designs, the BFG is a bit more aggressive. From what I see, there are a lot more BFG A/Ts out there than ProComp A/Ts. It may get down to what you want them to do for you.

Hope this helps.

Depends what you want to do. One of the 4x4 magazines did a mud tire test not long ago, and the Pro Comp X-Terrains came in dead last by a long shot. They're a better rock and sand tire.

The BFG A/T's are a good all-around tire, although I've wheeled with people that had them and they load up with mud pretty quick.

I'd advise getting the BFG's if I had to pick between those two.

I really can not recomend those tires for the tires they are, but BFG does make a fine tire.

I have the Xterrains and I like them. Havent done any 'heavy' offroading yet, but they've been good in the light mud. Look good and not too loud, once ya get used to it ;)
