whinning in cold weather

What do i need to do to stop my 04 sport trac from making a whistling sound in cold weather? I bought my first sport trac about 4 wks ago and i love it.

My 03 had this issue. It was the alternator. There is a TSB to replace it if you still have coverage. They will install a higher amperage alternator from the 4 Door Explorer.



Problem was solved after they swapped it out...

Good luck. I reproduced the issue for my dealer the other day, showed them the TSB and they said:



"Well it could be anything. We'll have to run it through some tests. When can you bring it in?"



I swear, if these guys saw hoofprints on the ground they would assume zebras, or even worse, unicorns.

whistling sound in cold weather

Is it a moan or an actual whistle? Remove your ISC valve and try starting it up. See if it makes the same noise. If it doesn't, you got your answer. My brothers 1999 Explorer did that one day. I poped the hood and noiticed the sound came from the intake.



The ISC valve was bad.
