Why Dogwood never gains weight

Greetings! I have to loose twenty pounds. I was wondering how come Dogwood (Blondie's husband) never gains weight after eating such big sandwiches. Please see todays 1-23-09 cartoon in papers. This is one advantage the cartoon characters have over real people. They never change. With thanks.
