Will the mirror from a 2nd Gen ST or a '06+ Ranger fit on a 1st Gen ST?

I need to replace the drivers side mirror on my '03 ST and have been looking all over for one. It seems like $40 is the going rate for one anywhere. I cracked the glass a couple years back and it's time to replace it.

I found that the newer Ranger mirrors are only $21-27.

I like the look of the newer Ranger mirror because I'm used to West Coast mirrors on a Tractor-Trailer.

Since my ST is lifted I have alot of blind spots with the dinky mirrors the ST came with, I've added convex spot mirrors but they don't really help much and Carol hates how they take up have the mirror, plus cleaning them in the winter is a bitch.

I've seen a Ranger with 1 ton Dodge Ram extendable towing mirrrors on it before when I drove OTR, his ranger was lifted about 10" so I'm guessing he had the same problem I'm having.

I know the 93-10 Rangers, 95-01 Explorers, 01-03 Ex Sports and the 1st Gen ST have similair mirror mounting plates but not sure if they are interchangable. Also looking at pictures of the 2nd gen ST's they look like they ahve the same mirrors as the newer Rangers.

If anyone knows if they will work, even with a little trimming/ modifications that would be great.

Thanks in advance. :eek:nline::haveabeer:

Auto Wrecking Yards usually have a cross reference book to help their customers. Ford parts dept should have a cross reference, and if you want to try some Ford mechanics try www.flatratetech.com :cry:

Good Luck with your search, and keep us informed on the outcome

Have a great New Year, Dave :driving:

According to my Ford parts catalog, the mirrors on the 2001-2005 Sport Trac only fit that body style and do not interchange with anything else. The Ranger you saw probably had the doors modified to make the Dodge mirrors fit.

Gavin, no, I don't wanna put west coast mirrors on the Trac. I want to put alittle bit bigger mirror on it for more visability.

I had a guy buy a cap from my old S-10 and install it on his '06 Ranger, I really liked the mirrors on his Ranger. I noticed the mounting plate to the door is damn near exact as the one on my '03 Trac.

Jerry, I dont know what west coast mirrors are.

These are what I had on my 3/4 ton long wheel base '78 dodge van. I put large rectangle convex mirrors at the bottom.

You would have to blank the oem off. And drill holes.

I only sujest these, because. They were great. Rear view mirror fell off. But I didnt need it. I could see perfecly. I suprised alot off folks. With these mirrors I could back up into spaces. That were hard to pull in straight.

edit; They are darn sturdy also...
