My windshield washer fluid light keeps coming on even though th fluid level is not low. Anyone else have this issue? Can I easily replace the sensor if if needs to be replaced.
Im not familiar with the gen2. Gen1 doesnt have this sensor. First I would try to clean the sensor. I might have some gunk on it.
Also you could unplug it. See if the light go's off. If not short with a paper clip or a resistor. Across the wire. If the light go's off. That would indicate the sensor is bad.
The washer fluid reservoir (Gen 2) is easily viewed from underneath, just behind and above right front bumper. Replacing the sensor would be easy - if you can buy just that piece. I looked on Fast Parts Network, Rock Auto and O'Reilly and didn't find it. Maybe your local Ford dealer's parts department can help. I'd take the reservoir out of the car, clean the inside as best I could and check the electrical connection.
You might have luck checking some local junk yards.
I looked online for Gen 2 Sport Trac Windshield washer sensors and could not find any, but all of the one's I did find include the reservoir and run from about $40 to $80 plus shipping. I suspect one from Ford would cost as much or more. That's why a junk yard part with a guarantee should only cost about $20 to $40 IMO.
