Its supposed to snow 4 of the next 5 days here. It has already snowed three days this week, and since it doesn't get above freezing each new snowfall just piles on top of the previous snow. I love snow, but I'll be glad when my boxes get here with my heavy winter clothes. I'm still living from the two suitcases I brought on the plane. At least the river hasn't frozen yet. I'll know it is cold then.

Nelson,

I am sorry to inform you that winter as we know it does not exist anymore due to global warming.

The 1600 page UN report that has been published says so. Obviously you must be wrong. Why are you not wearing shorts and t-shirts?

1600 pages! I wonder if some of those pages discussed deforestization and its effect on climate.

Seriously, I believe deforestization has changed the climate more than carbon dioxide emissions. Just look at the Middle East and Africa. Those areas were once covered with lush vegetation, but now they are deserts. This climate change occurred before cars were invented. The Amazon faces the same fate if the Brazilians continue to slash and burn their forests. The soil in the rain forest is very poor already and when they strip it bare it is good for nothing except covering it with concrete or to build on. It won't support crops, because all the soil nutrients have been leeched out from the continuous rains the area experiences.

Regarding Poland, the folks here said it was minus 28 Celsius here this time last year. I'm not sure how that converts, but it sounds really cold. We have been getting into the teens (Fahrenheit) this week, and that is cold enough for me.

To convert, multiple celcius reading by 9, divide by 5, add 32. Based on this calculation it was -82F?

-18 F according to the site below. You made me look. Maybe it is multiply by 5 and divide by 9. I'm not a mathematician so I just cheated with the website.

Yes, they are all bundled up. I leave early tomorrow morning for training in Italy. Good timing, I think as long as the plane gets out. We're supposed to get 3 inches of snow tomorrow. It will be in the 50s and sunny all week in Italy though. :)

I'm told the hotle doesn't have internet, so I will be off line for a week. I'll post some photos when I get back.
