Like I said, people will see it differently even in slow montion. To me it looked like a clean catch, while others will say it hit the dirt first. All the slow-motion videos I saw were only of the catcher's glove, so I did not see what the umpires reaction was and what he called, or didn't call?
Perhaps baseball will see fit to allow for instant-replay in the future, but for now there is always the eliment of human error on the part of the umpire and fans. I know I have seen a number of football instant replays that indicated the call was wrong, but were not overruled even after the play was reviewed?
The only problem I have with Instant-replay is that it can put the outcome of the game in the hands of a cameraman who works for the network. Many details of the play are obscured by the camera angle or the cameras may have been conveniently looking the otherway or the best view of the play was not recorded or lost?
