Caymen, you did shoot the first shot over the bow by saying "My life is too busy to waste in front of a game console to play a game", so please don't try to back-peddle now.

What you said is a judgemental statement. Be a man, don't back away from it! You are entitled to your opinion! We have the RIGHT to offend one another here, and in public!

TJR is right.

I'm not buying one at this time for monetary reasons. I think it will be a great product.

I'm offended by the little mushroom head guys that keep killing me before I can save the stupid princess!

Caymen didn't say anything wrong if you read his words and don't try to read things into his words. When he used the word "waste" he was referring to his life only, no one else's. If some of you choose to read more into his statements then don't criticize him for what you did. All your life people will say things that you can misinterpret if you choose to do so. Why not just go by the words written or spoken for what they are rather than what you think might be the reasoning behind them. Of course, I fully expect some of you to find hidden meanings in this statement that I never even imagined. So please tell me what I said here.

Bill: human tendency is that if someone says

"My life is too busy to waste in front of a game console to play a game"

that this 'waste' would apply to the reader of that statement.

Sometimes, you have to read Tom's comments several times to get the gist of his message, but I can see how that could be misunderstood.

Can't agree Darin. He specifically referred to his life by using the word "My". In doing so he restricted his comment to his life only. Had he wanted to include others then he would have had to say something along the lines of "One's life.......", "Our lives.....", "Your life......". See what I mean? It's unfortunate that so many people do not truly understand the English language and what words really mean and what they do not mean. When I use the words "my", "me", "I", "myself" then I am only referring to me and nobody else. If someone interprets the word "me" to include others then he/she is just demonstrating his/her ignorance.

I'm not a fan of chicken livers, but I like catfish, and chicken liver is excellent catfish bait...ergo, I like chicken livers too.

that console is slick! I still have my Xbox sitting around, I play it maybe once every few months when I'm really really bored. I'm still trying to beat Halo II !

That new Xbox looks sleek. I don't do consoles but I have tons of games for my PC. Sadly, I've only played through only a few of them. I used to upgrade something on my PC at least every year but I have a new money pit now...my ST. I wish I could still spend as much time gaming as I used to. I suppose a lot of this has got to do with the types of games I like to play, which require lots and lots of time to learn, play, and complete. I'm lucky to put in a couple of hours each week. Nowadays, a lot of my computer sessions are spent browsing the web and namely this site.

My life is too busy to waste reading people's revisionist, clarification posts. Say your crap right the first time. :)

Sure, Caymen didn't say: "Hey guys, don't waste YOUR time!", instead he said "I don't want to do what you are doing because it would be a waste of MY time!"

Okay, so how is the latter statement so much less judgemental than the former? I can't see the big difference. Because if you take the stance that the latter statement is about Caymen's time and how Caymen values his time, then the most flattering possible inference is that those that play video games have a different value systems whereby to them, playing a game isn't a waste; then you get into a whole judgement game on who has the more correct, well adjusted, adult set of time values.

It's kinda like an off-handed compliment like: "Oh, that activity is a waste for me, but I more than encourage you to do it!"

Caymen, as I said, you are entitled to your opinion. You think playing games is a waste of time. You need'nt clarify that statement or lessen it's impact to be well liked here. We are big guys, we can take it!

BTW, as a kid I used to play games ALL THE TIME. I WISH I had more time and money today to play PC and console games, but I don't. If I were to play these games now, it would be a poor investment in my time and money. But, I sure would love to play some GTA right now.

Actually, it dosen't really matter what Caymen thinks on this subject. This is an off topic subject, Caymen dosen't play console games and as far as I can see no one asked him what he thinks about console gaming. Nuff Said.
