Dash light illumination around the head light switch burned out again. Going back to the dealer for yet another head light switch replacement under warranty! I wish I had kept track over the years-- I'll bet Ford has easily replaced a dozen of them under warranty for my Rangers and Tracs over the years...:fire:

I am on my 3rd or 4th switch right now. Heard it was an easy replacement. Wonder if it can be fixed? (new light) How hard could that be? Bob :banghead::banghead:

I knew that was a problem with the Gen-1 Tracs, but it appears that Ford was not willing to make any improvements?

They will continue to blow because it's an incandescent bulb (prob the

only incandescent in the entire dash).

Pick up a white LED 12V (same physical size) and replace the OEM bulb. Fairly easy fix,

probably 5 on the difficult scale.....

Not only will it prob last forever....it will also be brighter.

P.S. Pull really hard on the bottom seam of the switch housing (gen2) and it will

pop out....no screws, etc.

Good luck!

I've replaced the bulb once since my trac was new in 2003. But it is out again. What size is the bulb? A T3 or T2?

I'll keep getting the dealer to replace the whole dang switch while it is under warranty. Then when it blows out after the warranty is out, I'll do the LED upgrade.
