Executor for my dad’s estate and looking to sell his Sport Trac, but unsure what to ask and need some help please. He was only owner, purchased new in 2010 at 78 years old, 216k miles many trips to Branson, FL and races all over. Exterior good condition, a few scratches on bumpers, slight rust on tail gate, hard tonneau cover. Rebuilt trans last year, drive shaft/tires, tuneup two years ago, interior excellent no one in back seats-all dash electrical AC/heating work great. Clean title, rides better than my new car. With wide range of prices, just want realistic idea for his last love. Charcoal grey, good condition, will post photos shortly as able to sell in 2 weeks. MI Thanks!!

I can try and help a little, i have been looking at tracs for 20 years and have a few, i have watched prices go insane, the miles might hurt you a bit but is it 4wd or 2 wd, what package is it, xlt etc, v-6 or the v-8. This makes a huge difference in price. dealers have them from 7k to 17k, private 5k to 13k, i look at prices from coast to coast, now this is just my opinion. if 2 wd in good condition with miles more on the 7k. if rust is underneath then 6k. i might get hammered on my opinion but pics and more info would help. This is not blue book but just what i have seen them average. if you got the adrenalin model then way different.

Hey again Curtis - here are some photos and some add'l info as I'm figuring out the details on the truck. Good condition, usual scratches/nicks - one dash light on as he wouldn't pay $300 to replace a tire sensor (depression era guy lol, photo shows), no other dash lights, everything works plus an aftermarket entertainment screen. Some rust on that usual back left tailgate area, plus that left rear quarter seems to have popped off a connector or two (will get that checked). Interior is in excellent condition, has winter rubber mats down, but originals in his stuff in garage. I haven't put nice hard, tonneau back on yet, photo later. Engine runs great, some sensors/thermostat & housing, battery, tune-up with plugs/wires replaced done last 2 years, same with Cooper tires. Some minor surface rust underneath, can jack up and get add'l photos on that later as well. Any thoughts, input on sale price based on this info? thanks bud

Hi, truck looks nice to me,,i would think up there you would get top dollar coming into winter with it being 4wd,,here in west virginia i have seen some major rust, but it is the frame that seems to deter buyers not the body as much, again this is my opinion,, i would start at 9k at see if any interest..wholesale dealers would paint the rust and detail and ask more and push the 4wd and winter is coming, which is true. tire sensors are common and not a major issue. it is a 2010 so that is a plus, ya might get more,,there was a time you could get ideas from a few car lots but that is a hard road as they try and low ball ya or say around this much then cut in half if ya bite saying did not notice this and that. this is what i would look at if i was shopping and not think it was a crazy price.i would think you would have some people on here interested when you decide. i am sorry to hear about your loss of your dad, good luck.

Hi Curtis - thanks for the detailed explanation as that’s a great help and why I came here vs car lots lol. I had an 01 which was a great truck, and that’s why dad bought one. Glad they hold value and hope the next owner enjoys as much as he did. I have another Ford 4wd, so going to list here and FB marketplace. In MI, so give a shout if ever up this way. Have a great Holiday Season!

Hi Curtis, you sound like you know what you are talking about. I'm a Firefighter in San Diego, about to sell my factory white SportTrac XLT 2wd gen. 1 V-6, in excellent condition, to buy a Maverick. I have maintained my truck well, and driven it carefully for 191K mi. since I bought it new. Oil / filter changes every 5K mi. (Mobil1 fully synthetic, Motorcraft filter), a few minor repairs; added Explorer Express sway bar, splash guards, bed liner, Rancho RSX shocks, lifetime air filter, not much else. I have no idea what to list it for, KBB says under $2K, but comps (in not as good shape as mine) are as high as $8K. Dealer will "give me" $8K on trade-in but then of course they make it up on the other end with no movement on the Maverick selling price. Any ideas? What do you think is the best place to list, AutoTrader? Thanks.
