Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Well, it was one of the new wires!!! It caused #2 and #6 (why both I have no idea since #6 was an existing wire). I bought a new set of "xact" style wires from Advance, and per pretty much everyones recommendation that I talked to locally, I put Champion plugs in. It runs smoother than it...

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Code scanned #2 and #6 misfire. 02 Sensors check fine, and it's dumping raw fuel to the exhaust...will change plugs and wires and see what's up. -Curt

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

How do I know if it's a Job 1? Or what it is. I know most of the pictures on here show a half cover over the throttle body, but mine has a full cover all the way to the firewall.

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

I don't know which engine it is, 4.0, and when I bought it it ran really badly as far as gas mileage etc., dealership replaced intake manifold o rings they said. It was fine after that. I will see what the scan tool says for me in a little while, and go from there. I won't bother testing...

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Todd, Yeah, went hunting for about an hour for that. I checked all the vacuum towards the back because that's where the wires run. I let it idle and sprayed with starter fluid hoping to get a rise in idle, but got nothing. I assumed at first that's what it was, and still very well...

Gavin, not yet, but keep your fingers crossed that something works for me today. -Curt

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Yes I don't blame the plugs at all, especially after putting the old ones back in with the same issue. Unless something totally random happened, I would point at my new wires. Got the scanner coming at 5 to check the codes (I've been getting horrible gas mileage as is, which is why I...

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

I'll grab new plugs since they're cheap enough (although the original plugs back in STILL has the issue). I'd lean more towards the wires, at that junction, so I'll go buy another set. I'll grab the scanner and see which cylinder it points at, then go from there.

Tom, They're NGK plugs, nothing iridium etc. Motorcraft wires. I refuse to run Autolite's.

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

I don't believe it can be a gap or bad plug issue, being that I've now removed both the new plugs, and put the old ones back in and have the same issue. I confirmed the plugs are correct, and I already have the others from the same set in the truck and running fine. The wires are confirmed...

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Hoping to get that tomorrow, can't drive it so I'm going to go buy a scanner I suppose.

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Yes after it idled for a minute or two I then got a Check Engine Light. The plugs I pretty much ruled out, as I have now taken both new plugs out, and put the old back in, gapped properly etc. Both ends internally look fine, as do the boots on the wires.

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

I'm positive, and even swapped them hoping I was an idiot. I did one wire at a time however, so I was certain it wasn't the case. It doesn't idle badly, and most of the wires I take off the coil pack, have little effect on the idle, which is bothersom in itself.

Changed 2 spark plugs...now very rough, can't drive

Ok...I'm baffled, and without my ST for the day until I can get back to the garage to take another look. It's an 01 4x4 automatic. I had changed all but 2 of the spark plugs and wires (the 2 last on the pass. side) about 2 weeks ago, and finally got around to taking the wheel off to get...

Upper Ball Joint Replacement Without Arm?

You can buy the MOOG that is a 2 piece replaceable ball joint design, but you'll have to buy the new arm/ball joint first. Basically the 2nd time around you could do it replacing just the ball joint. The passenger side isn't a big deal to do the whole arm, drivers side is not fun at all...

    Audiophiles, need help

I didn't mean to use the window switched power. I meant at the back of the radio, there is constant 12v+ to save clock, stations etc., but there is also the switched power that is powered when the ignition is turned to ACC or ON that is what I use. Early on in my installing career, I...

    Audiophiles, need help

I typically will use the switched power (ignition power) for the radio to power an amp if there is no remote or powered antenna lead. This way, it comes on and off with the radio and/or cd. Otherwise, you'll have to find another switched lead behind the dash, or in the fuse panel, or run your...
