07' Sport Trac 4.0 Oil Leaks

Aloha Dillard000- well some good news and tough news for me. My mechanic found the leak, it was on the upper oil pan gasket, cleaned things well, put it in. There didn't seem to be any leaks on the lower oil pan but since we were there and I had the gasket, it was done with the new Fumoto drain...

07' Sport Trac 4.0 Oil Leaks

Aloha Dillard000- thank you so much for your replies. 1st, I am blessed that my friend and a former Ford Master Mechanic helps me and so many others in the area, he was recruited away by a large transit organization. He set up his garage to do work to help us all out. I've had to "fight"...

07' Sport Trac 4.0 Oil Leaks

Aloha Folks, I have some oil leaks and my mechanic says best to do both the upper and lower gaskets. I contacted a local Ford dealer and was surprised with they said the upper gasket was close to $100.00 and the lower was $50.00. Question: should I just order the Mahle or Fel-Pro brand gaskets...

    Aloha: oil leaks

Aloha Dillard and everyone else, thank you for all your suggestions. I am so sorry I did not comment sooner. Sadly where I am, the crime and violence has gotten very bad in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not long after posting my question above, we had a suspicious fire set in our area, thank...

    Aloha: oil leaks

Aloha folks, I have noticed some oil leaks on my Gen2 V6. Have about 163K on it. I am told there are two seals an upper and the lower one. Is this correct? Is RTV used at all? Should I get the new seals/gasket from Ford or is there another brand you'd recommend? Anything else that should be...

    07' 4.0 2WD Front end driver side squeaking/noise

Aloha folks, want to thank Todd. Sure enough, it was the lower ball joints. I went with the Moog USA made ones, nice that they have zerk fittings on them. My original driver side one was completely gone/shot. Replaced both and the front is nice and quiet, steering is great. Mahalo!

    07' 4.0 2WD Front end driver side squeaking/noise

Aloha Folks, just a quick update. I purchased both the above lower ball joints. I noticed one said made in the USA the other overseas. So, I picked the Moog USA though I have to say the Mevotech looks good and the packaging was very good compared to the Moog. But I know it is about the part and...

    07' 4.0 2WD Front end driver side squeaking/noise

Aloha Folks, I forgot to ask but have read good reviews of both the Mevotech TTX TXK8695T ball joints as well as the Moog K80771 ones. The Ford lasted this long but am curious about these ones as I have read they are made for heavy duty and designed/engineered well. Any feedback much...

    07' 4.0 2WD Front end driver side squeaking/noise

Aloha Todd, mahalo to you! We were hit with a heat wave, over 100F. They really were making noise. Then it cooled off a bit and no noise. But today, they started making some noise again. How many Lower Ball Joints are there per side? These are different then Tie Rod ends and Lower Control Arms...

    07' 4.0 2WD Front end driver side squeaking/noise

Aloha Folks- So, in the recent past I have had all 4 shocks replaced, the front upper control arms and front hubs placed. A new squeaking just started on my driver side and the steering is a little harder. My steering pump and fluid are fine. What are the possible parts that could be going on...

Aloha: 2nd Gen ST transmission leak

Aloha Folks, just to follow up, I see others on here having issues in the past with a leak out of their transmissions, they all seem to have the V8 4.6L model. Mine is the 4.0L V6. Do both models have similar issues with leaking from the transmission and new seals need to be installed? Thank you...

Aloha: 2nd Gen ST transmission leak

Aloha Folks, I have a 2007 2nd Gen 4.0 RWD ST. A few years back, unexpectedly I had to have my automatic transmission rebuilt. Recently, but it could have been going on for a while, I noticed leak under my vehicle. It wasn't oil. I had my mechanic drop my transmission fluid and change out the...

Aloha: 2007 ST 2wd Suspension - shocks questions

Aloha SWS- well, still going as they say. Replaced the rear struts with the Monroe Quick Strut kits first. Remember, I was hearing a weird noise that seemed to come from the back end, I was wonder if my exhaust hangers were loose. My mechanic in all his years and with this particular model...

Aloha: 2007 ST 2wd Suspension - shocks questions

Aloha Evox- in talking with my mechanic, he does recommend getting the Ford EGR when the time comes but it is expensive. The other thing I learned about my 2nd generation ST is that many times due to wear and tear it can be tough getting the EGR off of the original bracket, so some mechanics I...

Aloha Larry, thank you very much for that confirmation! I just received the large package from Rock Auto! Boy, those 2 rear Monroe Quick Struts have some weight! I can't wait to install them, then I will order like you the front ones for my RWD ST. I hear some other noises below and think it...

Aloha: 2007 ST 2wd Suspension - shocks questions

Aloha Evox, thank you for all the information. I try to do as much as I can, given my space, etc. I am blessed to have a great mechanic that was once the head/master mechanic at our local Ford dealership. I would always buy parts from this place then some things came up where I didn't think I...

Aloha: 2007 ST 2wd Suspension - shocks questions

Aloha Gimbree- thank you for that confirmation. I am going to order up some strut assemblies, I guess that is the good deal whereby they come with the springs and strut mounts already on them. Will let folks know how it goes. Mahalo!
