    2007 ST v8 mpg

@"Risky Bizness" 19.6 MPG highway seems a bit high but reasonable for a 4.6L V8. 16.6 MPG city almost sounds delusional and MUCH higher than the factory estimate. HOW are you calculating MPG? Are you relying on the dash indicators or using the "top off" method at the fuel pump? BTW, how are...

    2007 ST v8 mpg

Biggest MPG killer with most gas vehicles is accelerating from dead stops. Sport Tracs are 4100+ pound bricks that benefit greatly from a lighter gas pedal when taking off. Also remember the MPG loss when using winter blended fuel.

    Evap canister or filler neck?

^ Aren't intermittent issues fun? Really should check the fuel pressure to save you time and added grief. I'd give odds you have a wonky fuel pump. Should you decide to pull the trigger, stick with OEM Ford or Motorcraft. Good luck.

    Evap canister or filler neck?

Sounds like a classic fuel pump issue to me. Especially if it started after banging on the tank. Fuel pressure checked?

    Tonneau Cover

Quite a few posts on the internet regarding 2001-05 vs. 2007-10 tonneau cover differences. IIRC, 2007-10 (Gen 2) tonneau covers, bed caps, and rubber bed mats are MUCH more scarce than 2001-05 (Gen 1). https://sporttrac.org/threads/tonneau-cover-gen-1-gen-2.118921/

Need help from a 2nd gen ST owner…

Hard to believe 2007-10 owners that read this thread don't have or couldn't find a tape measure. LOL

    2007 Sport trac floor mats

Most OEM Sport Trac parts and accessories are getting very scarce. On occasion a new set of factory floor mats appears on eBay. If you're not pressed for time I suggest you put "2007-10 Sport Trac OEM floor mats" in eBay's "Save this search" and you will be notified shortly after they are listed...

2005 Sport Trac XLT timing chain

@Brian Just from what I've read. Maybe "stealership" pricing? I may have misread posts regarding the $5000 price where the engine or long block was replaced with new or remanufactured. Either way, when the time comes I'll be using OE Ford or Motorcraft parts for my engine. As reputable as most...

2005 Sport Trac XLT timing chain

DIY? Your call, but expect to pay upwards of $5000 to have a qualified shop do it. Good luck. BEST tutorials I've seen yet.

    Gen 1 roof trim reproduction

Nice work @parker_lansing! On a side note. If anyone has a 2001-05 tonneau cover that needs rubber lock covers there is a FB member (Eder Lindorfe) that has been 3D printing them since 2018. I have referred several buyers to him and the reviews have been positive. There is also another one of...

Is there a forum for "Body"? I have a question about tailgate badge.

Just don't make the same mistake I made and use clear RTV silicone adhesive. Super strong, but next to impossible to get off what's left on the clear coat after the emblem is removed. 3M has an expensive acrylic double stick tape made for emblems, but I don't like how tapes stick out off the...

    What’s it worth?

Agree 100%. Especially when the parts and labor they use on the trade in is at dealer cost.

    What’s it worth?

Scary part is auto dealerships make 50% of their gross profits from parts and service. Have no idea what the profit margin is on OEM parts, but it has to be higher than "keystone" markups of 50% or more. Dealer service department hourly labor rates vary between $150 to $200+ per hour depending...

    What’s it worth?

Unless desparate or really pressed for time, it's beyond me why anyone would sell a used vehicle to a dealer or auto broker. SMH

Troubleshooting automotive electrical issues is NOT one of my strengths, especially when intermittent. May be worth finding a reputable car audio store locally and pay for a diagnostic. Many stock head units were removed from these trucks, After 20+ years where they ended up is anyone's guess...

Loud ticking noise from engine in front of driver site

Bottom end of the 4.0L SOHC is very stout. Achilles heel are three different plastic timing chain guides that get brittle and break often causing severe valve damage. Metal chains themselves very rarely fail. Interested to hear what the shop has to say. Please keep posted.

Loud ticking noise from engine in front of driver site

Hold a long paper tube to your year and place it on the valve cover where it's loudest. Better yet, record the sound by placing your smartphone microphone in the tube and post it here. If it's rattling like a can of marbles it's probably a broken plastic front timing chain guide.
