What is the deal with my rear bumper cover?

My guess it was bent from trying to tow over the limit, the bumpers are not meant for a load, where a class 2 or 3 hitch to frame can handle load on tongue, looks like a newer hitch and i have not seen a trac with a factory class 2 or 3 hitch. i added mine. do not remember any of my rangers...

New to me 2002 Sport Trac

If i found a beater slash play rig 4x4, i would cut fenders out and put some flares and bigger mudders and enjoy, they have great low pull for wheeling, armor the bottom and shocks and tires and you can wheel it for 500ish and fix it as it breaks.

    Alternate to paint.?

I did detailing, and we would do underbody treatments, we would use red hot a acid degreaser and run fans over night to get dry, then spray, the problem is as todd mentioned, where mounts etc, this is stress points that will fail from rust, unless you remove body then spray it is a bandaid, i...

DVDSWAN 02 Sport Trac Build/Maintenance thread

yes,, unless someone replaced ignition and had it chipped or replaced ignition and ecm, or tailgate handle, my issue on one of the tracs was key was worn but took awhile to get tailgate to lock. but if ignition was changed you would not be able to use it on doors, if it works on doors then try...

DVDSWAN 02 Sport Trac Build/Maintenance thread

The back tailgate does not get used as much as the ignition does so tumbler and key wear down so if you have a spare with better points on key i would try it and wiggle, this was a issue for a couple trucks i had, with no need for chip take to locksmith shop to have a key made should be cheaper...

Hola from Arizona, new owner of a 2007 Sport Trac .

Oh yea, just a little dry there,, spent 18 years growing up in glendale, then the next 20 years going there to get my vehicles, were cheaper and cleaner, then people caught on to this and prices went crazy.

    Off-road bumpers

i test fitted some from a jeep and loved the look, my intent was to split in middle and add a skid and needed to angle to flow, problem was the metal on bumpers were not solid steel so fabbing and making strong got to challenging, was going to just fab some but got lazy and just did a bull bar...

Can we talk "roll bars"? (i.e., sport bars)

Someone had this on facebook sport trac, i have rolled a older ford and was on pavement and the roll bar saved the cab, was the option back in 80s for lights, looked cool, there is quite a few pics off roll bars on tracs on the fb, not a fan of the facebook page, too many idiots that give bad...

    Body Lift Questions & Concerns

I am truly impressed, with 4 inch lift we had to trim for my mt, my at still rubbed at full articulation but not as bad, we tried my 33s on a 3 body lift 04 and smashed inner on full turn parked. with 1 inch spacers still hit, he went 32s still rubs at full turn. i have suggested to people over...

    Body Lift Questions & Concerns

Way easier to change shift points with a programmer. if you were going to 44s i would agree but with 33s you will not notice or would make a difference, in my opinion. and i have been offroading for 40 plus years,, dam i am getting old.

    Body Lift Questions & Concerns

Body lifts are the same in gen 1 but susp lifts are not, 04 and 05 had minor changes, bolt on suspension lifts were only made by couple companies and they stopped selling for no demand, i waited 6 months for superlift to make for 04, if you are wanting 33s, you are most likely going to trim...

Torch add-a-leaf kit and 3" body lift concerns on 20 year old Sport Trac

My kid just did a torch lift on a 04 and has no issues and he is running close to 32s, doing 31 should not be a issue on rubbing if using stock wheels and 10 w, where i had a few rubs at full articulation is with 33 x12.5 with a less off set, very minor. i have a 4 inch lift,, you could run a 1...
