Anyone tried the Fram Boost Intake?

Went to that site. No listing for Explorer Sport Trac (or even Explorer).

    Fram Boost?

No application listed that I could find on their website for Ford Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac.

    EE Swaybar

After installing the Explorer Express swaybar (easy job, BTW), I was amazed at the difference. For me it was a safety issue. I think it literally saved my life one night when I had to swerve on the freeway to avoid a big box that fell out of a truck. One small fishtail and I was back on line. I...

Fram AirHog Hi-Performance Air Filter? Others?

(There is no category for "Intake"). Anyone have any info on the Fram AirHog Hi-Performance Air Filter? I have not even checked yet to see if they have a model for my 2004 Trac, but they are offering a $20 rebate thru 12/31/06. I am considering pulling the "noise silencer" (project) and...

    '04 Trans service/flush w/o filter change?

Very interesting info, RichardL; thank you. I have bought the Motorcraft filter and Motorcraft fluid (non-synthetic I believe) from Ford. Is is possible to do a flush, then drop the pan to have the filter changed? Is it possible to reclaim the new fluid after dropping the pan? It seems that if I...

    '04 Trans service/flush w/o filter change?

Can you clarify: if I flush first, that involves pumping in the new fluid. But then when I drop the pan to change the filter, do I lose all that fluid I just put in? Or can they drain it and capture it and put it back in? Thanks.

    '04 Trans service/flush w/o filter change?

Good ideas. Drawback to filter change and then flush is (I think) they usually run the vehicle in gear on rollers with full tranny case of (old) fluid and flush via replacement with new fluid (that I have bought). Thanks for further ideas.

    '04 Trans service/flush w/o filter change?

Finally got my brakes done at just under <35K: ceramic pads, rotors turned, fluid flushed. New fuel filter as well (Motorcraft). Picked up a transmission filter (automatic tranny), and 16 qt. of Mercon V from Ford, but the mechanic said to get a refund on the filter (screen). With his system...

    Wrong Transmission in Trac?

Todd, sounds like you know these transmissions, and they are not identical. So, I guess I should ask for a service kit for a 5r44e transmission, like my certification label (Code "D") indicates? vs. a 5r55e? Thank you for your help, need to get this done.

    Wrong Transmission in Trac?

I'm sure there is an explanation for this. In my 2004 owners guide (2x2) it explains how to read the certification label on the door to determine which transmission you have (getting ready to service with fluid/filter change). I know I'm supposed to have a 5r55e automatic 5 speed overdrive, but...

    E85 fuel

I would like to try it. Station not TOO far, and willing to pay more to keep it in the USA! But, not willing to risk damage to engine. Any stories of damage? '04 flexfuel Trac. Thanks!

    removing intake silencer

"By the way, I was thinking of going this route instead of a cold air intake for now...what do you think?" Me too. 1. got dizzy just reading about the K+N vs. MAC vs. Volante vs. etc. etc. 2. my mechanic (not necessarily a Trac expert) said, "if you go with an oiled air filter, eventually...

Front Brake pads; '04 Sport Trac

Thanks for that info, Rich, sounds good. I can bring this printout to my mechanic who does all my work (I used to do all my own stuff years ago!). A few questions: 1. could this be a factory warranty issue? 3 yrs since I bought the truck new from dealer. 2. recommendations on where to get...

Front Brake pads; '04 Sport Trac

Thanks. Any opinions, is it generally best to order online or are prices about the same as walkiing into a shop?

    '04 fuel filter

I was in Walmart getting oil, and asked if they had a fuel filter for my '04 Trac. He looked it up and got me one (#G 8018). When I brought it to the mechanic, he looked at the original one while the truck was up on the lift and said it looked like the wrong one, something about the end being...

Transmission fluid, filter, gasket '04 Sport Trac

Thank you. I'm not sure how to find out if I have a non-limited slip rear end, but I'll figure it out. As far as a fuel filter, was in Walmart (!) and asked if they had a fuel filter while I was getting oil, and they did. Or so they said. He looked it up in the Fram book, and I got one. As my...

Front Brake pads; '04 Sport Trac

Just checked out the website for Advance Auto, they say the ceramic brake pads wear up to 40% faster than semi-metallic. Is the advantage simply noise and dust reduction? Thanks.
